Frequently asked questions.

The things most people wonder about before they reach out.

Where are you located? Do you offer online therapy?

My office is in La Cañada Flintridge, California. I also offer secure online therapy for clients throughout California, from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

What do I do to get started?

Reach out by phone, email, or through the contact form on this website to schedule a free initial phone consultation. If we decide to work together, I’ll guide you through the next steps and get your first appointment on the calendar.

What is a free initial phone consultation?

It’s a brief conversation where we discuss your concerns, I answer your questions about therapy, and we determine together whether my practice is a good fit for your needs. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work before scheduling your first appointment.

How long is a typical session?

Most therapy sessions are 55 minutes long.

How does online therapy work?

Online sessions take place on a secure video platform that meets HIPAA privacy standards. Before your session, I’ll send you a link to join. All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a computer, tablet, or smartphone. Many clients find online therapy convenient, comfortable, and just as effective as meeting in person.

Who do you work with?

I work with children ages 6 and up, adolescents, adults, and older adults, including women, men, couples, and families. Treatment is tailored to each person’s unique needs, goals, and stage of life.

What issues do you commonly treat?

People come to me for anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, stress, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. Whether something specific brought you here or you’re simply ready for positive change, therapy gives you a place to grow and build the life you want.

Can therapy help if I’ve been struggling for years?

Yes. Many clients begin therapy after living with anxiety, trauma, or self-doubt for years. Healing is possible at any stage. Therapy helps you build new insights, coping skills, and healthier patterns moving forward.

Do you offer EMDR therapy?

Yes. I’m EMDR Certified, and I use EMDR therapy to help clients process traumatic experiences, reduce emotional distress, and move toward healing.

What is your educational background?

My professional training began in 2011, and I’ve worked in the mental health field since 2013. Along the way I became EMDR Certified and completed specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Ongoing professional training keeps my work current with evidence-based treatment approaches.

Are you licensed?

Yes. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California, and I adhere to the ethical and professional standards established by my licensing board.

Is your furniture comfortable?

Absolutely. The space is meant to feel warm and welcoming. Whether you choose in-person or online therapy, my goal is for you to feel relaxed and at ease during your sessions.

Do I have to lie on a couch?

No. We’ll sit in comfortable chairs, in person or over secure video. Most clients find therapy is a collaborative conversation rather than the traditional image portrayed in movies and television.

Should I wear waterproof mascara?

That’s entirely up to you. Some clients appreciate being prepared for the emotions that come up in therapy. Others prefer to keep their usual routine. There’s no right or wrong choice.

What brand of tissues do you offer?

The soft kind. I always keep tissues available and plenty of compassion nearby.

Am I allowed to ask personal questions?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to ask questions. While I maintain professional boundaries, open and honest communication is an important part of building a strong therapeutic relationship.

What apps make your life better?

I appreciate apps that support organization, mindfulness, health, and personal growth. Even so, some of the most meaningful moments happen away from screens – through genuine human connection.

Paper, Rock, Scissors, Lizard, Spock?

Spock. Logical, calm, and surprisingly effective.

Cats or Dogs?

Both have their charm, but I appreciate any animal that brings comfort, companionship, and joy.

There’s a version of the drive home where the conversation ends when it ends.

A Thursday night where your name makes the list. A voice in your head that talks to you the way you talk to everyone you love. Tell me your story, and together we’ll decide whether working with me is the right fit.
